Could you be the next Parish Clerk?
March 2008
Following the retirement of the current Clerk, Kelvedon Parish Council is
seeking applications from suitably experienced candidates able to demonstrate
excellent administrative and interpersonal skills. Experience of local
government would be advantageous. Duties will include preparation of agendas and
minutes, responsibility for correspondence and financial management and
supervision of staff.
The role is for 13 hours per week based in the Council Office, including
attendance at evening meetings.
The salary range will be based on the National Scale and the successful applicant
will be required to either hold, or be willing to work towards, the Local
Council Administration Certificate.
Completed applications will be required by 27 March 2008, with evening
interviews during the period 21 – 29 April 2008.
The National Association of Local Councils has published a useful booklet, ‘All
about town and parish councils’ that contains details about what parish and
town councils do. It also provides case studies to illustrate how a local council
can make a difference.
