Parish Councillor vacancy
November 2008
Cllr Larry Raison has resigned from Kelvedon Parish Council after many years of service on both this and other local councils. He has made a great contribution to the council and will be missed. Cllr Raison was Chairman of the Recreation Committee and saw many successful projects come to fruition under his guiding hand. Recently, he had been particularly involved with the Youth Forum and his input was much valued by the young people.
Cllr Raison’s resignation means there is now a vacancy on the parish council. No by-election has been demanded, so the council is now free to co-opt a new councillor.
If you would like to apply for co-option to the parish council, please request the relevant information by:
- writing to the council at The Old Fire Station, 102 High Street, Kelvedon, Essex, CO5 9AA
- phoning 01376 570285, or
- emailing info@kelvedon.org.uk
Closing date for receipt of applications for co-option is 30 November 2008.

The National Association of Local Councils has published a useful booklet, ‘All about town and parish councils’ that provides details about what parish and town councils do, the role of parish and town councillors, answers frequently asked questions about candidacy, and provides information on qualifying to run as a councillor. It also provides case studies to illustrate how a local council can make a difference. |
