The
Hard Play area has been upgraded and is now open
News - 1 August 2007
The refurbishment of the hard play area on the playing field is complete and
it is now reopen for use. The new surface has been colour coated and freshly
lined for use by four of the most popular games (tennis, netball, five-a-side
football and basketball).
Initially the new facilities may be used completely free of charge. Arrangements
are in hand to introduce a booking system in the near future so that use of the
court can be reserved at specific times. When this starts the court will once
again be kept secure and a key made available to those with reservations. A
small usage charge will be made for lighting.
The total cost of this work was in excess of £10,000 including a grant from
Essex County Council Youth Services of £1,700 that was secured by a group of
local young people who meet at the Contact Bus at the Playing Field. The Parish
Council is grateful for their action and for the grant.
This is an excellent facility for our village and the Parish Council asks that
the hard play area and its fencing are treated with respect to maximise its
life.
