Footpath number 30 is permanently diverted
News - 31 October 2007
Kelvedon footpath number 30 and Great Braxted footpath number 19 have been
permanently diverted. Although bearing two different numbers, these actually
relate to one continuous footpath that is subject of a change of number where
the path crosses the common boundary of the two parishes.
The footpaths have previous linked a point halfway along the exit slip road
towards the A12 in the direction of Witham (Grid reference (GR) 852175)
following a course in a south-easterly direction through Ashman’s Farm, joining
Kelvedon Road at Great Braxted (GR 857173).
The new route of the diverted path (still numbered as Kelvedon footpath number
30 and Great Braxted footpath number 19) is slightly to the north and nearer to
Kelvedon village than the original one. It links a point at the Kelvedon village
end of the exit slip road towards the A12 in the direction of Witham, adjacent
to at A12 over bridge (GR 853176), to join Kelvedon Road (GR 858175) nearer to
the Maldon Road bridge than previously.
The new route of the path no longer passes through Ashman’s Farm. It follows a
convenient, existing, field edge and crosses the River Blackwater over a newly
installed pedestrian footbridge.
The integrity of the footpath network has been maintained.
A map showing the route of the diversion is held by the Clerk and is available
for inspection.
