Volunteers are sought to serve on forums aimed at
improving the delivery of local NHS services
News - 7 October 2007
Are you interested in the quality of local NHS provision? Have you got
experience or a view to offer? Would you like to contribute? The Commission for
Patient and Public Involvement in Health (CPPIH) is offering an opportunity for
public volunteers to serve on forums in this area.
The parish council has received correspondence from the CPPIH that is seeking
volunteers (including members of the general public) to serve on forums in this
area.
The Commission is responsible for looking after groups of volunteers around the
UK who work to improve local NHS services. Forums have some legislative powers.
The role of forum members also includes: researching NHS policies; talking to
staff and patients; and engaging with local support groups.
Forums are made up from groups of volunteers from the local community who have
an interest in health and the way local NHS services are delivered. Members come
from a broad variety of backgrounds and have a range of experiences and skills.
Training is provided. Forum membership is on a voluntary basis, but expenses are
reimbursed.
If you are interested, more information is available on the
Commission web site or from
the Parish Clerk who holds correspondence and
brochures.
