Parish Clerk set to vacate office this year
News - 14 January 2008
At its
January meeting, Kelvedon Parish Council received
the resignation of its long-standing Clerk - Mrs Jill Hinds MBE. Jill indicated
that she hoped to be able to leave her post by the end of August, but noted that
this could be earlier depending on the appointment of a replacement.
Jill is a
very well known figure in the village. She was first appointed to the post of
Council Clerk in September 1978 having previously served as a parish councillor
since 1974. In total, she will have been associated with Kelvedon Parish
Council for some 34 years – a remarkable achievement of public service. Her
public role was part of the proposition submitted for which
she was subsequently
awarded the MBE in the 2007 Queen’s New Years Honours list.
This release
is merely to announce the news. More will be posted about Jill’s service nearer
to the time of her departure.
The council
has yet to decide how or when to advertise and begin the difficult task of
searching for and selecting a successor for the Clerkship. More information
about this process will be published in due course but anyone interested in
receiving more details is invited to register with the council in order to
receive an information pack in due course.

What is a town, parish or community council?, as described by the National
Association of Local Councils.
