Volunteers wanted to help put up the Christmas lights

News - 3 November 2009

Every year, a fantastic display of Christmas lights is seen on both private and commercial premises on the main street through Kelvedon. A number of properties put up decorations themselves, but most of the major installations are put in place by a team of volunteers working on behalf of the parish council, which provides the funding, equipment, storage and logistical arrangements for the lights.

Can you help us?

The Christmas lights are a true community enterprise, but they do rely on volunteers. We are very grateful to those who help but sadly, their number is diminishing. We are searching for new volunteers to help us put the lights up. If you can join us, you will meet a great bunch of people and as you progress through Kelvedon during the Christmas season, you will feel a warm glow of satisfaction, knowing that you have helped to achieve the wonderful display.

Dates and times

Installation dates for 2009 are Saturdays 21 and 28 November, with 5 December as a fallback position in case of bad weather. Volunteers meet in the High Street car park (free parking on Saturdays) at 9.00am and are asked to be prepared to help until 1.00pm if possible, although work is usually over well before that time.

Members experienced from previous years will be on hand to help with the installations so you won’t be left on your own to figure things out.
