Could you be the next Parish Clerk?

News - 18 June 2010

Kelvedon Parish Council is seeking applications from suitably experienced candidates able to demonstrate excellent administrative and interpersonal skills. Experience of local government would be advantageous. Duties will include preparation of agendas and minutes, responsibility for correspondence and financial management and supervision of staff.

The role is for around 16 hours per week (subject to discussion) based in the Council Office, including attendance at evening meetings.

The salary range will be based on the National Scale and the successful applicant will be required to either hold, or be willing to work towards, the Local Council Administration Certificate.

Completed applications must be submitted by Monday 12 July 2010.

The National Association of Local Councils has published a useful booklet, 'All about parish and town councils' that contains details about what parish and town councils do. It also provides case studies to illustrate how a local council can make a difference.
